Where does the Witch-hazels come from ?

The Witch-hazels (Hamamélis virginiana) is a small tree native to North America, of an average height of 6 meters,  in the family Hamamelidaceae.

The extract is obtained by cold treatment of the leaf and is composed mainly by gallic acid, proanthocyanidins, polyphenols and flavonoids.

What are its properties ?

This plant arrived in Europe in the 18th century and is popular in the treatment of skin problems. Hamamelis is used for its anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and sebum regulating properties. It is also qualified as a venous tonic by promoting circulation and will therefore help to firm the skin and relieve heavy legs.

How to use it ?

Witch hazel is suitable for reactive and sensitive skin, calming redness and itching. Thanks to its anti-oxidant properties, it acts against the signs of skin aging, and can be used to prevent the signs of aging. It also fights against the appearance of imperfections by tightening pores and regulating sebum.
